r. Sara Linton moved to Atlanta to escape Grant County and its reminders of the husband whose murder she watched in their front yard three years before. She now works in the ER of Atlanta's Grady Hospital.

he novel begins when a naked woman is run over on a county road after she escapes the madman who kidnapped and tortured her. The case is investigated by Will Trent and his partner Faith Mitchell, Special Agents for the Georgia Bureau of Investigation - thus combining the author's Georgia Bureau of Investigation series with her Grant County series.
S
ara treats the woman whose torture left her blind and in a coma. The case interests Sara, as not much does these days. She invites herself to the autopsy of another victim who was kidnapped and tortured to death by the same crazed perpetrator. Her attempts to keep informed on the progress of the investigation irritate Faith. Will, smitten with the doctor, appreciates her help.
F
aith has problems of her own, including an unwanted pregnancy and adult onset diabetes. She's afraid that when her boss in the Georgia Bureau of Investigations finds out about her health problems (never mind her pregnancy) she'll be given a desk job.
W
ill married his long time lover Angie, and their marriage is going the same way their previous relationship did. Angie leaves when she wants to and returns when it suits her. The pair have similar backgrounds of torture and abandonment as children.
T
hough
Undone
is listed as a Grant County mystery, Sara Linton's role is minor. However, the future of the combined series is promising, making it difficult to wait for the next installment.
