While traveling to Florida to visit her longtime, long distance boyfriend, Juliana Gregorio meets prosecutor Michael Maguire and can't quell her instant attraction. He's so open and easy to talk to that she soon finds she's telling him her life story. Michael finds himself similarly attracted. But once their plane lands and they part ways along the concourse, both know it's back to reality. For Juliana it's hoping that Jeremy will finally pop the question and agree to settle down and start a family. And for Michael, it's trying to figure out how to break off his engagement after realizing that he doesn't really love his spoiled, high maintenance fiancée.

Two days later Juliana and Michael are again sitting side by side on the plane home and commiserating over their disastrous weekends. Juliana still can't get over the fact that she and Jeremy are taking a break after her discovery of his infidelities, and Michael confesses that he's officially broken things off with his fiancée. Both suddenly single and admittedly even more attracted to each other, they decide to stay in touch - as friends. It doesn't take long however, for the pair to become more than just coffee buddies. However, between a fiancée determined to win back her man and the dangerous turn Michael's murder trial takes, living happily ever after suddenly becomes a dangerous prospect for the new couple.

Marie Force hits all the right marks with Love at First Flight, a story that's got a little bit of everything: a great premise, endearing characters, a racy romance, and a nice dash of suspense as Michael struggles to balance personal life with a high visibility gang member murder trial, a situation that ultimately draws Juliana into the line of fire. Yes, her life is threatened a few too many times to be completely believable, but the leads are both so endearing in their determination to protect one another as well as bring down the bad guys that it's a minor quibble. Marie Force knows how to tell an emotionally charged and entertaining story.
