A
ndy Taylor belonged to one of the biggest bands in the 1980's -
Duran Duran
. This is his story.
A
ndy had to grow up quickly (at age 11) after his mother walked out on him, his brother and father, and did not resurface in their lives for four years. His father's family was quite musical, so it was no surprise that he became interested in music. At age 19, he answered an ad for a guitarist, which is how to became a member of Duran Duran.
A
ndy chronicles the rise and fall of the band - from record deals to drug and alcohol use to failed relationships. In the 1980's, they were known for creative videos and deep, thoughtful lyrics. There is even a chapter related to Princess Diana, who named
Duran Duran
as her favorite band.
A
ndy details his life and relationship with Tracey, his wife of 25 years, and their family, as well as projects he engaged in outside of the band. He is honest and open about the dysfunction within
Duran Duran
. The toll that the rock and roll industry and lifestyle can have on an individual is apparent.
W
hile Andy uses British terminology that may be unfamiliar to some, the reader is able to gain an insider's view into a world that few people experience - the world of rock and roll.
